Rodeo is a western sport based on the skills required of the working vaqueros and later,  cowboys of the western United States, western Canada, and northern Mexico. Rodeo is a competition which consists of several different timed and judged events that involve cattle and horses, designed to test the skill and speed of the cowboys and cowgirls who participate.  The competitions include bronc and bull riding, roping and barrel racing.

Rodeo is very popular in rural Australia, especially in Queensland and the Northern Territory where there are still large numbers of working stockman.
